I love LL. I hate that its old and frail. I have a nice new thruster and buttons but my monitor (well some component) has gone out for a second time. :(

Is there any way to rig/adapt/ a more reliable monitor for this? I thought someone once told me the ateroids monitor was improved over this one.

Thanks

It sounds like you have the G05-801 monitor

These monitors can all be made reliable

It involves replacing parts and re-flowing solder on all pins etc

Not sure where you get cap kits from, but that would make a good starting point :)

If you have a true non converted game, then you should have an electrohome GO5-801 monitor in your game which was the best of your three vector options. you can use a GO5-802 which is a good monitor but not the correct one for your game. Or you can use a Wells 19V2000 which is also incorrect and the least desireable. Both of these monitors will require an adapter (from bob roberts) and after all that screwing around, they are still both inferior to the GO5-801

Summary: Have someone that knows what they're doing fix your original.

Out of curiosity, what makes the -801 superior to the -802 or V2000? Or is it just that the -801 was OEM in LL?

And, what makes the -802 superior to the V2000? The add'l linearity pot in each input circuit??

I have the 801. I really wouldn't mind doing the soldering, capping etc. It sure would be easier if I had some kind of video or set of guides.
