I have purchased a DK game, did a complete Bob Roberts Cap kit and replaced the cracked Flyback.

Powered it up and adjusted the B+ to 108vdc and the picture looked perfect. The only other adjustment was to the brightness.

Played the game for about 20 minutes and the monitor shut off, so I killed power and walked away
Turned the unit on the next day and everything was perfect. Played for about 20 minutes and the monitor shut off again, game still playing and sound working perfect.
I am new at this but have read post after post and looked at the charts but never really see anything with a monitor turning off after that long.

Any ideas on where to start?

sounds like a heat issue to me as well.

it also could be your H-Hold pot if it gets dirty or loose or broke it will shutdown the monitor.

i have repaired several where this was the cause.

Thanks for all the things to check

The sound does stay on when the monitor goes off

I turned the H-Hold pot from 1 extreme to the other and back to center to try and move away any dust/dirt

I hooked up my meter to the B+ post and turned on the machine, it was right at 107 - 108vdc. It stayed on for about 25 - 30 minutes before the monitor turned off and the B+ did go up to 141vdc when it went off.

Do I need to look at the solder joints near the pin connectors on the monitor chassis up near the neck or where? Like I said I am new at this

Thanks again for all the help

i would reflow the whole neck board. i do a reflow on every chassis i repair for good measure.

also reflow all the big parts on the main chassis.
over time with wear and heat the solder cracks, and when the game is moved it jars the parts loose and causes intermittent problems.

i have seen a good reflow fix many things on a chassis even if the caps or fly have not been replaced.

I did a reflow on all the neck solder points and a few of them on the main board and the game has been running for over 6 hours and it still working. It looks like it must have been a weak solder point.

Thanks for all the input and help.
