I work in the Video Broadcast Industry. My company is about to get rid of a bunch of monitors, because they are big, heavy and a pain to ship. Are these monitors worth saving for games? ( see list below) The sizes range from 20, 13, 9, 8, 5 inches they are CRTs. ***EDIT*** Some are 16:9 but most are 4.3

I'm new to collecting/repairing so I figured I'd ask the experts.

If they are worth it, I'll take them off their hands. : ) And share the love KLOVers.

Broadcast CRTs:

Sony PVM 20M8U
Sony BVM 20F16
Sony BVM 20G1U
Sony PVM 20M4U
JVC DT V00054
Sony PVM 1354Q
Sony PVM 8044Q, 8044, 8045
Sony PVM 5041Q

Also, the are thinking of getting rid of a bunch of Tektronix vector and waveform scopes.
Tektronix 1720's 1730's 1750's 1750R's
Tektronix 7704A OSCILLOSCOPE

Guess who makes the decisions on whether or not to keep them in stock????? :)

Thanks
MIke

Check ebay to see what some of those are going for. If you are wiling to box and ship them, you could probably get some extra cash for games. I bought a couple of PVM 8044's last year for what I do for side work. I'm sure someone could use the scopes if they are still in good shape. I have a waveform and vector set up to watch levels. I have not found a decent LCD to shoot video with. Don't want to spend a couple of thousand for a high end LCD. I still use crt's at my video shoots.

I was once burned on Ebay for being an honest seller... I will never ever sell on Ebay again. I buy a lot but I'll never sell again.

They are really good for reference in video and a good alternative to pricey LCD's..

If they are not good for this application, they can go to recycling....

Thanks for the response..

Mike

now for us crazy arcade people, theres some of us who would like to add an additional monitor on top of the game and i think your monitors just might help us make that a reality. Were cheapasses though, so cough em up cheap!

Sony's are not usable in games or for tube swaps in any of the older classics.

The scopes on the other hand would be very useful.
