Hey everyone ... I am looking into purchasing a jamma cab from a fellow klov member. he has advised me that the monitor in the cab does not show red. I wanted to ask everyone here if this would be a simple fix or would the entire monitor need to be replaced. Thanks in advance for your help.

It may be a simple fix such as a loose wire or a cold solder joint or it could be a bad gun in the tube which would require replacing the tube. You'll need a rejuvenator and a multimeter to identify what part is at fault, but it is most commonly a problem with the chassis, and that can be rebuilt for fairly cheap.

Agreed. We bought a Nintendo Vs. cabinet recently and it only displayed green with flickers of red once in a while. After checking all 9 transistors on the monitor PCB, it turned out that the neckboard transistors were bad.

If you don't count the cap-kit I did, the repair would have cost $5.50. :)

sounds like it shouldn't cost too much. I will have to look up if there is a shop in my area that does repairs (since I have no technical knowledge for this sort of thing)

Actually, I think there are a couple of KLOV'rs in your area that would probably take a look at it for you for the cost of a 6-pack (if that). For just red (considering guns rarely give out like that), I'd bet it was a cold solder joint at the connector for the video (depending on the monitor... for a 4600, could be the connector for the video wires, or the connector for the daughter card). Next shot would be the transistor or resistors on the neck (either faulty or, more likely, cold joints).

When do you plan to pick it up? Are you busy on Monday? I have the day free and all of the tools necessary to diagnose/repair. I may not have all of the parts depending on what is broke though. Send me a pm if you are interested...
