My monitor loses its focus, and gets brighter and brighter the longer i leave the monitor on..

My question is, would it be the tube or fly back causing these problems?

It seems to take around 1-2hours for it to 'fully warm up/stabilize'

thanks for reading

That would be the flyback. It's on it's way out. I'd replace it now, before it finally craps out and takes out fuses, the HOT, and a few other choice parts with it.

What model & size monitor is it? What game is it in? Have we asked these quesitions before?

I'll start with the standard question - what kind of monitor is it?

Could definitely be a flyback on it's way out. This is a common failure mode of WG K7000 flybacks actually, (especially the ones with the white knobs!), - losing focus, flickering. Usually you'll see cracks in the flyback housing, especially around the controls.

And the make and model of the monitor in question is......???

I think its a Neotec 25" monitor, might of asked a while ago I had put the game aside for a long time now :)

I am not sure of the exact model of the Neotec monitor though. The monitor is from a Area51 Site4 cab

Thanks for all the replies, one last question... what is the most I should be looking to pay for a replacement flyback for this chassis?

Based on your recent posts about the PCB on this game rebooting a bunch, I'd say your flyback is beginning to die. The voltage spikes caused by a failing flyback transformer caused my Mortal Kombat cab to reboot constantly too. I didn't realize what the problem was until the flyback finally gave out. It was only then that I realized that the 2 issues were related.

I would say look to spend between $30 and $40. I'm not sure of the availability of flybacks for Neotecs, certainly scarcity will drive up cost.

look around for model numbers, if it's a 25" yours is probably the Neotec NT-2500. (25 for size, 00 for standard res .. medium res by contrast would be a 2501 for instance)

Neo had some other weird model number conventions. look on the back side of the neckboard if there's a cover label or somewhere in the middle of the chassis. this may be easy or difficult based on your cabinet type. :)

another option would be to talk to Chad at www.arcadecup.com
