Hi,

I just purchased a game to restore and it has a large 25" monitor that is pretty dim. I have tried to adjust the screen brightness on the flyback and it helped but washes out the color pretty fast.

The chassis doesn't appear to be original and the following numbers came from the chassis. WG092742, 120887, 29500318 and ecc-20380. I was wondering if anyone can identify this chassis from these numbers.
thanks
Dan

monitor K5501

Hi,

Looks like I have a WG K5501. It has a very dim display. I tried to adjust the screen brightness adjustment and the color washed out pretty fast. I am wondering if I should try to change the game board to make sure it is being driven properly? I think the monitor is a medium resolution monitor because it has a small circuit board mounted on the left side of the chassis. Other than that I am not sure how to adjust the brightness so I am looking for pointers.
Thanks
Dan

Okay, if you have a K5501, it is a standard-res - and will have the little board up there. If it is a K5515, then it is a medium-res - and will have the little board up there. Whatever game you have it in will tell you which it is.

The K5500 is just the 25" version of the K4900. The brightness (screen) adjustment is on the flyback - bottom pot. There is also a black level adjustment on the board:

If adjusting it doesn't help, you should start with a cap kit and reflow all suspect solder joints. Your tube may need a rejuvenation, too....

hi,
I was able to find the part number and have ordered a cap kit for this monitor. Thanks for everyone's help.
