Quick question guys

I have a chassis that appears to be a K74000 but it's listed as a K2193.

It's showing static/snowing screen and it was as if the horz and vert holds were going crazy. I tried to adjust both but got nothing. Would you guys start with a cap kit? I was built in 97 so it's pretty new.

Would you guys start w/ a cap kit?

Thanks for any help as always.

Let's see a pic of the chassis.

If you have problems - and haven't done anything like change game boards, monitors, wiring, etc - then a cap kit and solder reflow is always a good start. If nothing else, it eliminates these from your potential problems...

K7400 and U2000 were kinda the same monster, both CGA only.

I don't know if the U2000 was susceptible to needing upgrades like the U5000 did, you never hear too much about the 2000s.

caps probably won't have squat to do with the rolling, but have you tried the monitor in a different cab? what's the likelihood that you're missing sync or there's a bad video ground?

I'd reflow the input headers first for fun, though I don't see these having many cold solder issues, I don't think they're quite that old yet. lol

Here's some pics
It's oddly seems to be a monitor that needs no ISO tranny also.

The U2000 (and K7400/K7500/U5000) don't need an isolation transformer because they have isolation built into the chassis.

That chassis needs to be cleaned up, recapped, and checked for solder issues - at least...
