So I had 2 monitors on my bench that got knocked off by a buddy of mine shattering all over the floor. Holy shit was it a mess!

Obliviously I'm looking for a couple donor TVs now for tubes. My question is..since I don't have the tubes and wasn't smart enough to fish the tube tags out of the rubble...does anyone know if either of the monitors listed below were 25" only or 27" only? The k7000 was a dedicated Area 51 which probably doesn't help at all

k7000
u2000

Thanks!

Both of those models came in 25" and 27" varieties. However, the chassis were slightly different for each model. The 27" K7000 will actually have the daughter board above the flyback wired in. If it is there but no wires go to it it was a 25". The U2000 should have a label on one end that reads something like 2025 XXXX. The 20 denotes that it is a 2000 and the 25 or 27 denotes it's size.

There is also a slight difference to the frames but I never recorded the info. The 27" mouunting tabs will be slightly further apart.

Wow.. I had no idea there was actually chassis differences in a 25 vs 27. I have a couple pics of the 7000 before the tumble. Looks like a 25?

Yes, that is a 25", it doesn't even have the daughter card I was referring to.

I'll take some measurements this afternoon of frames. I am pretty sure I have a 25" frame and a 27" frame side by side so the measurements will be easy to take.

That's what kinda confused me as I did see a card at all.

I just picked up a 25" TV for a buck from the salvation army..with any luck is the correct neck...which I think was a Cr-31

Thanks!

No, the neck would be a CR23. I have never seen a tube larger than 19" that uses the CR31 size. All 25" K7000's I have ever seen use the CR23.

Interesting..

Other than my Amp can ya tell these where my first 25s i messed with. Man did they meet a horrible death!

Even if the tubes smashed, the labels should have been intact still and would tell you the size...

I took some quick measurements of the frames. The mounting ears for the tube are spaced differently:

25" tube - horizontal distance is 21 3/8"
27" tube - horizontal distance is 23 3/8"

These measurements came from a 25" K7000 and a 27" U2000 but they should be universal.

Yeah...see the part in the OG post where I stated..

"since I don't have the tubes and wasn't smart enough to fish the tube tags out of the rubble"

The Amp should have used a CR24...

Wouldn't that be a WG6100? My AMP has a 23 and I checked the tube numbers to make sure it was original. Of course this was 2 years ago since I last worked on it and I'm slowly losing my mind. So anything is possible.

Thanks..it looks like these were both 25s

On a side note I picked up a donor TV last night and the yoke OHMed out very close to the 7000. The Horizonal was .4 off and the vertical 1.0 off. Being the yoke was cracked in the 7000 obviously I had no choice to try it. I threw the rejuv on the donor tube and the damn thing was perfect already..all 3 guns were good and exactly the same. Did a quick clean and balance and installed the tube in the gaping hole that was left available from the crash. It has a few issues but...I don't think they are tube\yoke issues as that's why I pulled the monitor originally. I won't have time to cap it until next week.

The local Salvation Army only had 1 25"..that had a shitload of 27s and 29s. Kinda eyeballing the TV at home in the guest room...it's a 20 year old 25" Zenith. It might get lost next week =)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Amplifone is a CR23. Only the WG6100 used that funky CR24 tube key (and maybe the G08....I can't remember....and I'm too lazy to go look :).

I do have some Hantarex 25 " MTC-9110 that are also a CR24, but as Oryk stated.....every other 25" (and larger) I've ever encountered is a CR23.

You guys are right, I was thinking of the 6100. The Amp uses a CR23. I have heard that the Hantarex uses the CR24 but I have yet to encounter one.

Actually easier than messing with 19" tubes. With a little yoke work darn near every tube would have a purpose.

On a side note..anyone every try a flat 'screen' crt tube swap? I have a buddy at work looking to get rid of one..just wondering how the hell that would work out

Most of the flat screen CRT's I have seen are CR71 or CR70 configurations. It would take some work to make it fit an arcade chassis and most likely wouldn't look right when done.

That might work as an Amplifone 25" if you're lucky. Tube numbers A63AAX00X A63ABZ26X A63ABZ40X all you'd need is the yoke (from a 6100)

'Upgrade' your guest room with a $1 TV from the SA and who'd complain about the 25" disappearing?

Hey Now...the 27s at the SA were $1.99 and the 29s $2.99. You know a KlOVer can't afford that kind if loot!

The other monitor is just s spare so no super hurry.
