This is from my Donkey Kong Cabaret, which I assume is a 14" sanyo, but I haven't checked the model yet (I would have to pull it to tell). When I first turn the game on the monitor is nice and bright, but after 10-15 minutes it looks like this:

I am guessing that a cap kit would solve this problem, but I wanted to have Modessitt or Ken Layton weight it, just so I order all the parts I need. Like if I need a flyback, etc.

:D

Well, I'd start with a cap kit. Flyback - maybe, but unless you're on a deadline to have it perfect, not sure it's worth spending the money for a flyback yet. Possible needs a tube rejuvenation, too...

If the image is nice and bright in the beginning I would think that it wouldn't need rejuvenation... ????

The color guns may be failing as they stay on. Anything is possible. If you have an HV probe, you can check to see if the HV is falling off. You can also measure the Kr voltage at the neck socket when it's good, and again when it goes dark, to see if it changes...

Thanks for the sage advice! I really appreciate it! Now if it does need rejuvenation I will need to get RetroHacker to use his on it! ;)

Isn't there HV on one of the neck pins? I'd be really, REALLY nervous about putting unprotected multimeter probes anywhere near anything that carries HV...

im with mod, recap it and see what ya get. If it still sucks, get the tube checked with a rejuve. THat pic screams krappy tube to me.

you can also see the blue bieng overdriven, coming back to normal, then back to overdriven.

recap your audio amp on the monitor if you havent already as well.
