I have a gauntlet legends cab and the monitor is toast. Im wondering if anyone has a list of what games also use medium resolution monitors so i can keep an eye out for something that will work in my gauntlet cab.
thanks,

Your best bet is to head over to the repair section and take a shot at repairing it yourself or send the board out for service. Putting a used (not rebuilt) monitor in a game is like putting a used water pump on your car...

Wait a minute, you say the monitor is "toast". What exactly does that mean? Is the picture tube itself bad/broken? Is the screen blank? Flatlined? Maybe if you described the problem in a little more detail, there might be a better answer here. Also, some pics of your cab and the monitor won't hurt either.

unless the tube is shot, you are way better off to either recap and repair the chassis yourself, or pull it and send it to arcade cup/chad. As asked what exactly is wrong with the monitor, and what model is it?

well i got the machine from an auction and was warned that the monitor was no good. I took it home and found that it has been totally taken apart. i just assumed the person who had it had tried to fix it. havent had the time to hook the monitor back up but will try to this weekend. Im kinda afraid to mess around with monitors dont really wanna die lol ... if i get anything i'll post pics.
thanks.

so i started to hook the monitor back up and the plastic on the end of the tube just fell to pieces. Dont think there is any hope for this thing lol. I did find a used monitor for $40 which is the exact same. Think ill just take that and start fresh.

don't just pitch a 27" med res chassis. someone will buy it in unknown condition for what you paid for that other monitor.

I'll tell you personally I don't like working on monitors either, but over 50% of vintage game problems are monitor related so you are going to have to give it a shot sometime. Also, I have picked up more cheap games because of a monitor problem than anything else.

That's no big deal - it's actually pretty common. That plastic thing on the back of the tube is just a guide key. You don't need it at all, provided you line the pins up with the socket. If you like, you can replace the plastic bit with one of the same type scavenged from a junk tube.

Junking a monitor because that little plastic bit broke is like junking a car because you lost a hubcap.

hmm well see i didn't know that lol... i dont even know the break down of monitor parts ie. yoke, chassie, etc... i suck at monitor knowledge... i need a teaching lol... well then ill continue to reconnect it and see what the outcome is.
