Hey folks

the monitor in one of my cabinets is covered in surface rust and i was wondering if i strip down the monitor sand it then paint it would that cause any issues?

let me know your thoughts

if you paint it, you lose out on using the frame as a ground. like for discharging or testing B+ or something. unless you leave a section of it unpainted for that purpose.

I could be completely off-base with that as well.. just means I need coffee.

i very rarely ground any of my monitors so it would not make much difference.

and in the event you need to just scrape away a bit of paint it is easy.

Peace

use OSPHO on the rust. great stuff ! can be found here:

think it can be ordered through Ace Hardware...
we used it on garbage dumpsters before painting. turns the rust black but dont get it on your hands. chemically changes the rust into inert substance

earth ground the monitor frame i always do, just like all the metal parts
