Monitor discoloration? **Pics, some questions**

When you cut the frame, you probably ended up magnetizing it a little. You can sometimes use a degaussing coil to demagnetize it, but it doesn't always work. Instead of trying to track down the v-shaped magnets, get yourself some strong (comparatively) refrigerator-style magnets and place them on the metal banding around the outside of the tube in the area of the discoloration. That may cancel it out...

Hey modessitt, I can't thank you enough for the response brother!

I have used the degaussing wand around the monitor's tube outside the cabinet itself.

Questions:

Should I pull the monitor out of the cab and use it on the back side of the monitors frame to de magnetize it.

Could I degauss the effected area without pulling the monitor from the cabinet through the rear access panel, or would I risk magnetizing the cab itself?

Should I just use good old magnets to do the trick?

Thanks for the help!

Start with the magnets. Your degauss coil creates a field that will go right through the wood of the cab, so no real need to pull it...

Thanks again for the help brother!

I am going to try to degauss it a few more times and if it still has the same issue, the magnet is going in.

I loaned out my degaussing coil to a friend and when it gets back I will hopefully find some results. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

Thanks so much!
