So I get a lot of free tubes from an ebay flipper that lcds most things: So I have a tube thats good, however the convergence rings are loose and some of the tabs are broken so the whole ring assembly will have to be replaced. Now im pretty decent at adjusting the rings and understand how to and what rings do what. However ive usually had a starting point on how far forward or backwards the rings assembly should be from the yoke. So my question is how would you go about handling this? I have complete ring sets from similar/same model tubes all k7000, u2000,k7400,u5000 but I dont have any complete ring sets where i was able to save the part to lock the ring sets down or i would just guess the distance to the yoke measuring other tubes lock the ring assembly down while trying the rings and repeat, is this going to be impossible or is there a good method to kinda keep the whole ring assembly in place while i adjust the rings? ive used other ring sets before on tv donor tubes that broke the part that locks the assembly but because i had it marked I could just glue it back down or the ring assembly fit snug enough i could adjust the rings. Ive tried just putting on the ring assembly's I have and just keeping them together how they were on another tube and sliding the whole assembly back and forth and rotating them but that is not working and i cant adjust the individual rings with out somehow temporarily locking down the assembly to a certain spot on the tubes neck…

Any advice?
