I have a Jen Shinn 329 chassis with a sharp H20 25" monitor. The color on one side of the screen has a blue tint to it. I tried to degauss and it does not go away. Is there an adjustment or is the tube shot? Thank you in advance.

By trying to degauss it, did you actually try with a good degauss ring to get it right? What did you try on it?

If you tried with a good ring and can't get it to straighten up, it could be something external that's near the monitor, like maybe a speaker is in the wrong place or something? Also maybe the degauss ring has slid down into a weird position, zapping the tube strangely and making the color uneven.

If that doesn't work, it's likely probably the mask in the tube is bent or something. Can't really fix that. Yours looks VERY severe though, I don't think I've seen one that messed up from a tube issue, mine were always weak areas at the corner or something or a dead spot in an area, yours appears to be 2/3rds of the tube.

How did you degauss it? That looks like you could clean it right up, sometimes when you degauss it works better if you go under and to the side of the tube as well, then pull the ring way away before you let go of the power.

I actually had a repair guy come to the house and degauss it. He couldn't get it out. He tried fiddling with something behind tube, i'm not sure if it was the rings or the yoke. He thought there was probably damage to the tube. There are no speakers close to monitor and degauss tube is in the same position all the way around except for the top left corner it does sit up a few inches than the other corners. Thanks for any help. Also I do have a doner tube, if I need to attempt that. Tube is from a 1997 sharp tv tube # A63AFW32X I heard these are good tubes. If pins are correct and the yoke has same resistance I should be ok right?

same issue

tonight I mounted the original speakers back into my mame cabinet and I got the same thing. it did this before with my old monitor so I think its something external. im wondering if its because of the cabinet its next to. I read somewhere about tapping a magnet to a drill and running it over the screen to degauss. did this and it looks fine when the magnet gets close and gets worse when I remove it.

Most if all 25" tubes are 10 pin so you should be good there but there are different flavors of yoke impedance. I think that 329 chassis will be flexible in the impedance depending which version it is as far as low imp or high imp version.

There is a metal band that runs around the outside of the tube. Stick your magnet on it near the bad corner to see if it corrects the problem. You might have to move it around a bit. If it fixes it, leave it there.

It's possible your tube has become permanently damaged due to a close proximity to an unshielded magnetic field. Or the monitor frame or a mounting bracket may have become slightly magnetized due to a similar field....
