I have a home made 19" monitor made up of a 19" Daewoo TV Tube and a Wey Ya Chassis. Picture looks great in the horizontal position. When I rotate it to the vertical position the far upper right looks like I am getting interference like from a magnet but I have nothing with in 6'-8' of it. When I install it in the cabinet fully back in position with a slight upward facing angle the spot now show on the top left side about the size of a soft ball. Other then the spot the picture is great. Any ideas?

Thanks
Walter

I would try degausing it in the vertical position.

Do you have a tool to degause it?

I use my Weller soldering gun, some use a magnet on a cordless drill.

You need to verify that you have the degaussing coil still on the tube and hooked up to the chassis. If it is all there and hooked up, you will need to try a manual degaussing method.

Just checked it all looks hooked up any way it could go bad maybe??

There's a Fry's in Houston. They sell a degaussing coil for $39.99. I have one and it works just fine.

Most of the older monitors have a limited self-degaussing ability. It works, but not on the large scale that a hand degausser works. It usually only kicks in for a limited time, and that might not be enough.

Usually, after a few weeks of being turned on and off, it will eventually go away. If you can't wait that long, make friends with a local KLOVer who has a hand one. Lots of members in the Houston area...

Like mod just said, they can or just be too gaused up for the degause to work. You can manually degause it without hurting.

The monitors degauser will work just fine after that. That's what I had to do to my Ms Pac and its been fine ever since.

If someone has a soldering gun, use it. The guns really pull and work very well.
