I recently swapped the tube on my K7000a Zenith chassis. The tubes were compatible, but I was weary about it from the start because the television was displaying in a slight purple tint. After putting the tube in, I got the color drives and cutoffs set the way they needed to be. The picture looks good aside from being too dark. When I raise the brightness, the green starts to turn blue. Is this because the green gun is too weak?

It seems the tube is suffering from cathode poisoning, darkening the overall image. I doubt a rejuvenator would do it any good. I need to find a gently used television with a near perfect image to scavenge a really good tube it seems. That or I suppose it would be possible to frankenstein the neck from the old tube onto the new one, but that is way beyond my skill set.

At this point, I am just glad to have a working monitor, even if it does have some burn-in.
