i have a tatung ec9382-01 19" vga that had a beautiful pic until today...no neck glow, of course no image...when i power off the game, i get a flash of the game image on the monitor...any ideas?

It's in high voltage shutdown because the B+ is too high. When you turn it off, it drops the B+ enough for the high voltage shutdown to disable, which allows the pic to be displayed until all the power drains out of the monitor. I dont' know anything about Tatungs but capkit might fix it.

Tips

Tatung Part Number: VT19726Z
Merit Part Number: EC9382-01

Which is in the manual...

I can't be certain if you have the upright or a Bartop

but either way your going to have to get your hands dirty..

You need to do the obvious and inspect the monitor

board for anything obvious. Do that first tap on the chassis during game play!

Notice anything?

Next see if any of the heatsinks are warm after a few minutes of just sitting there

turn it off and touch any heatsinks feel free to take pictures.

I personaly would take some sort of dc measurement as a reference in case

i lost more then what i had to begin with..any found voltage would be a start.

like on the neck board which maybe easy to get to..

Dont assume that i or we dont know what a heatsink circuit would do so if you

say all were cold or you say only this was cold I may offer some tips on why..

all clues can help!!

Discharge the tube and then plug it in and listen to hear a HV charge..

this will let you know that the HV did come up and then maybe stay or drop off.

I assume you dont have a HV probe..it would help here!

Search the web and klov for a cap kit for that model!

for any shared experience with this model.

Call merit and ask for a schematic odds are nobody knows nothing..

ofcoarse if its a bad connection then you dont need one anyway you just need solder!

You loosing money so get started and odds are theres a problem on the chassis

so be prepared to get the chassis out and take a picture over the top of the chassis

so all parts can be seen. inspect the plug connectors to and from them game.

pictures are like people faces its easier to remember by looking at them!!

Someone here may see or remember something that can help you also.

Good Luck!
