Hi, I'm kind of new to all of this stuff. I bought an old, mostly stripped out cabinet, that I've been converting to a MAME cabinet. I've completed most of it but one of the last things I'm missing is the black bezel that sits on the monitor. I'm wondering if I would have to find the exact bezel that goes with this cabinet or if there are other ones that will fit? I discovered that it used to be an old Fighting Vipers cabinet, but I suspect that finding a bezel from a specific game will be pretty tough, so I'm hoping there are other options.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated!

Here's a picture of my cabinet from a few months ago. I've got the marquee and other stuff fixed up now, but still missing the bezel.

I don't believe that specific cab had a specific exterior bezel. usually they had a thin cardboard one that was either black, or printed with some type of instructions. Then a clear piece of glass or plexi was put over it.

You could buy some black posterboard or foamboard, cut out a hole for the monitor tube, put it in, then put in a clear piece of glass/plexi and be done, or have something specifically printed up of whatever design you wish, and then do the same....

EDIT - just saw you said it was a Fighting Vipers. looks like ti had a black plastic monitor bezel with some instruction stickers on it, then a clear piece of glass in front:

You can buy a 25" (or whatever) size plastic bezel:

But will that fit my particular cabinet? I went to a local repair shop and looked at a bunch of different bezels they had lying around, and even for the same size (25") monitor they all had different dimensions. Some were wider or taller than others and some had more depth than others. My cabinet has a thin slot right behind the speakers for the bezel to slide into, so it seems like it wouldn't fit even if the bezel's depth was off by just an eighth of an inch.

So I was wondering if there was possibly some way to get a bezel that's identical to what was originally in this cabinet, or would that be a close to impossible task?

EDIT: I've looked around this forum and I notice that what everyone refers to as a "bezel" is the actual artwork around the monitor. Is there a different name for the black plastic piece I'm referring to?
