I recently acquired a Midway game and when you turn off the game (even unplug it) the monitor still glows a greenish-blue in two spots on the screen just smaller than the size of a dime for a minute or so. It doesn't appear to impact the quality of the display during game play.

I also noticed the plastic on the harness out of the power supply (Midway style power supply) is burnt on a few connectors...but only a few. Not sure if these two items are some how related? Power surge going into the cabinet??

I guess I'm asking about the "after-glow" on the monitor to see if this is a leading indicator of the monitor failing or something I need to address to extend the monitor life.

i have that on several of my monitors and it doesn't seem to hurt them.
i have also had this happen on several older tv's and it never hurt them either.

i would not worry about it.

Peace

I don't think anyone's really sure what causes it, but it seems to be harmless, as tubes that show the artifact last just as long as other tubes. My theory is it's a harmless chassis defect where a capacitor or capacitors somewhere is discharging out through the guns.

That's exactly what it is. Without the yoke to drive the guns around to the other areas of the tube, all the remaining electrons are forced to be in the center. Perfectly harmless, and normal.
