I've done quite a bit of searching but had no luck, just need some quick info to get me started. I'm a pinball guy with limited experience with video games, although I do have electronics background.

NBA Jam: Monitor missing, need to buy one
MK3: Garbled display, will installing a cap kit fix this?
Cruisin' USA: Dead monitor, where can I find a schematic for the monitor boards?

Looking at the KLOV info I see that NBA Jam & MK3 are Standard Resolution 25" while Cruisin' USA is Medium Resolution 25". Are there any model numbers associated with these?

Where is the best place to order monitor cap rebuild kits from?

Thank you!

the crusin probably has a wells u5000 in it. If its been changed it might have a wells k7500 or some other brand in it. take a pic.

garbled display with MK3? take a pic and post it. Let the game boot up(takes about 20 seconds) and put credits on it and hit start. Does it make game sounds? If no sounds its probably a board problem. you could try connecting the nba jam in it. both are standard rez and jamma.

If you see some graphics on the screen and it making game sounds, try monitor adjustments and confirm the video wires are connected correctly. Could be a sync or horizontal hold problem. Garbled graphics is not something a cap kit would fix.

Finding a 25" monitor is not easy. New means LCD and like $500. Unless you get lucky on CL or find a local operator, you probably will have to steal it from another game. Try to grab a wells k7000. Much easier to fix than the other brands. Hantrex 9000, hantex polo and nanao ms8-26su have excellent pics on them, but they are much harder to fix. There are quite a few other brands you will find in 25" cabs. Sharp image, kortex, and neotec are also common.

zanen or bob roberts is a good place to get cap kits.

Even though mrbill2084 gave you a lot of great advice, I just want to add a little bit more to it.
First, pictures of your "garbled display" on the MK3 would definitely help, as Bill said. Also, shoot a picture of the chassis for that monitor and we can help locate the proper cap kit for you. A new monitor does not necessarily mean buying a LCD, and I personally would never put a LCD in an arcade game. They look absolutely awful. Just do a quick Google search to confirm how atrocious they look. If you ever decide to buy a new monitor I would go with a Makvision Pro 25". A member on here, Zenomorp has a review on YouTube regarding the Makvision.

He is a great guy and I am sure he would be willing to answer any questions you had if you decided to go that route. Before buying a new monitor, however, I would post in the wanted section of this website (KLOV) and see if you can stir anything up locally. I would also check Craigslist, but as Bill alluded to, you need to be patient because people are reluctant to give up their 25" monitors.

Thanks guys, great info. I wish I had the games with me here, would definitely post pics. They're actually hours away at my parents store where they will be "on location" when I get them working.

They have a pair of Cruisin' USAs. The other is actually pulling in a lot of money for them right now so I really want to get the pair linked and working. The one with the monitor issue plays fine, boots up, can start a game and hear game sounds. The monitor is just dead. With schematics and some common components to replace I'm sure I can bring it back to life.

Will get some pics to identify the monitor, when that is done how difficult is it to get schematics?

The MK3 boots up fine, you can start and play a game but of course everything is garbled. I really should have played with the adjustments, the colors I saw where sharp and bright but I'm thinking of ordering a cap kit just in case.

I have a local collector who is going to sell me a rebuilt 25" standard resolution so I should be set on the NBA Jam.

Thanks!
