Monitor acting strange (picture is jumpy; a video is included)

Well,

For the past month, the monitor of my mortal kombat machine is acting up. the picture is jumping up and down really fast, like its having tremors. It's incredibly annoying and its a shame because the colors are really nice.

I assume I have to get a cap job done on it? Can a skilled tv repair person do this? I have included a video of the problem. It's going to be complicate to get this fixed considering I don't know anyone who can do this locally..

There shouldn't be any real reason why you can't do a cap kit yourself. There are many tutorials, how tos, and what to do and not to dos out there. Lots on you tube. The tools aren't that expensive and are good to have on hand. Although, this could be another problem as well. Some of the experts will be around later.

first things first.

what model chassis is it we need to know. my suspicion is it's a polo or a K7000.

take some pics of the chassis and post them.
that will tell us what to get you to check.

with some basic soldering skills you can do a cap kit your self.

There you go, it seems its a zenith monitor of some sort.. Is that purple ooze in the first picture normal? It seems.. evil!

no that ooz is not normal.

that is a K7000 chassis the tube is a zenith.

ok you are in luck that chassis can be repaired fairly easy. all the parts are available.

read the sticky in this section about it for more great info.

and then report your findings.

it will need a cap kit and new fly for sure maby a couple other things.

is the fuse blown if it is we can point you in the rite direction to start the repair.

check the VR and the H.O.T for shorts and C36 plus the 6 diodes in the power supply section to start.
