Hi folks,

Just wanted to know what you all thought I should do about this, is this a fixable thing or am I just going to need to search out a replacement board? I have a MGP cabaret that won't turn right. Through trial and error I found that the wiring on the main GP is fine, and I can steer left just fine, and when I invert the two signal leads from the 96599 it lets me steer right by turning the wheel left, in other words that functionality works and it's just a matter of what signal is being fed to the game. The LEDs on the 96599 blink appropriately whichever way you turn the wheel, so somewhere between the optical sensors and the output, there's a chip or component not doing its job. Alas, I am inexperienced enough that I'm not even sure how to tell which one it might be!

Any help is much, much appreciated.

You can simple measure the output of the optical sensor - I am not sure which ones are used but the signal line will be either be high or low when not blocked and the opposite when blocked.

You can use a meter or a logic probe to check this.

If this is working (make sure you check the supply voltage on the emitter side as well if it doesn't seem to be working), then check the signal at the board to make sure it is getting there and then proceed into the circuit.

The sensor may also just be dirty and the output level is too low to generate an output.
