I just wanted to document a mod I made to my Monaco GP cockpit.

Monaco GP does not have freeplay.

In addition, it requires a three-connection switch to coin up. This means you can't easily use some freeplay solutions. You need a three-terminal button (COM, NO, NC).

Those buttons are easy to obtain, but then you need to put them somewhere. I didn't want to drill a hole, have it hanging out, have to lift a panel, etc.

I was reading https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/pole-position-cockpit-refurb.554997/post-5008664 and saw this idea to use a key lock that acts as a switch. These are used in applications like marine vehicles. However, they are only two connections. https://www.ebay.com/itm/182033832579

So I used a little relay board to make this work. See the pics. You just add the three switch connections directly to the device and then provide 5v and GND. The switch closes a ground connection for the relay input. https://www.ebay.com/itm/401237960337

Anyway this is pretty cool now since you start the game like you would a car. The only downside is that as far as I can tell the cockpit can't be set to only need one quarter. So you have to turn the key twice.
