I finished up my Monaco GP last night....

Originally got the machine from gabesdad1981 back in June. The game worked, but there were issues than needed to be addressed. The cab needed some work, the steering was spotty, wouldn't coin up, marquee lights needed work, power cord was shot, sound board was bad, and the on/off switch was caked with paint and hard wired to power on when the unit was plugged in.

I fixed the steering issue, re-wired the marquee lights, stripped down the sides, cleaned the cab, cleaned the ps and replaced caps on it, monitor cap kit, repaired coin mech, installed new on/off toggle switch, new cord, replaced sound board (thanks 1badv6!),

More to come...

The I made some custom side art and had Rich print it out for me. I've used mamemarquees mostly, in the past, but I heard good things about Rich too, so I wanted to spread the love around the KLOV community. ;)
I also recreated the Monaco GP sticker/logo for the shifter knob. I printed that out usuing a laser printer on silver label heavyweight paper.

I finished applying the side art and new t-molding last night. I used black with silver pinstripe.

Thanks guys. I still have to try out the led display driver board I got from theDrewster to see if it helps reduce the 'waviness' of the scoreboard digits.

I LOVE that game! Congrats!

I remember the first time I saw the headlights. . . blew my mind!

Great audio too! I wish I had one of these.

Nice work. The finished product looks great.
I like the stop light next to it as well. I have a stop light above my Sprint 2, but I'm missing the "shades" over the lenses. They look good, I need to get some for mine.

Thank you. It's a great little game!
I thought it would go well being near the stop light. :D

Did you put one of those micro-controllers in your light so that it works like a real stoplight?

Of course! That's the only way to have a stoplight. :D

I've also aquired a walk/don't walk sign (complete with the "push to cross street" button) , so I may need to upgrade to a controller that controls that as well.

Cool! Be sure to wire it so that the push to walk button doesn't do anything, just like the "real" ones. ;)

Awesome! I just picked up one today that needs to be stripped and repainted (and cleaned!). It also needs new T-Molding.

Where did you get the Art and the t-molding from?

How much did it cost to have the side art printed out? I've got a cab which has the originals almost completely intact and I was thinking of scanning it before I work the game over for future reproduction.

Here is the t-molding. Black with chrome.

I gave permission to Rich to offer the art on his site. You can PM him (Rikitiki) about it, tell him I sent you.

Mike

Cool. I did a little bit of searching and found someone who had (or was going to) reproduce the original art back in 2005, but I can't find any contact info for the guy that appears to be valid.

Here is the thread I found about it:

If I can't find the guy, then I'll have to go with the art you used. It looks great, but I would like to go as original as possible.

but I would like to go as original as possible.

I'll email you copies of the scans if you want to go through the trouble of vectorizing them, one side is totally complete and the other is about 90%, which can probably be repaired using reverse cuts & pastings from the opposite side. I'd just leave it all intact but the woodwork has serious enough damage that completely working the cab over is really the only good option, pity as I really think the originals look cool, kind of Atari 2600-like.
