MOMA (Twin Cities) Auction on Oct. 27th 2012

Just do a search on here for "MOMA" to see the umpteen past threads about this annual auction.

If there are any classic games there, they will be beat to hell, and will still bring high prices.

If you want mediocre conversions or huge sitdown games, this is the sale for you.

Sorry boys, this auction is a bust. I've attended several times in years past, and I've been super un-impressed. Lots of craptastic conversions and broke ass sit down drivers.

If you want to pay $300 for a beat down Midway cab that's been converted to a poker machine, then have at it.

Yeah, I'll probably still go for shits n giggles since I like the see all the stuff, but I haven't actually bought anything at one of these in years.

I've heard this in the past. Was thinking of coming up but 2nd time I've heard this.

This years going to be interesting only due to One major vendor to these in the past was bought out and the buyer has been running K-bid auctions with games for the past year clearing out inventory. So figure that the collection of crapnasties are going to be a slimmer pick and that might bring high prices.

But if you're in to paying way too much for something that's either too big or too ugly to be in any ones collections then come.

I'll be there but as usual not looking for much. unless it's a decent price and i can use it. or I feel pity for it.... The other ? is where is it going to be this year. New location since the other owner sold out.

I am going, but only because I have not attended any auctions up north and I am curious about the experience. Plus I live in Fargo and this is the only auction I know about anywhere around here. That being said, if I get that look in my eye, somebody stop me.

Well I found out where it's being held and for 350.00 deposited to my paypal I'll share the info. Paypal info is [email protected]

J/k it's in Osseo again but at a different location and in a much smaller building which mean you'll have to stand next to some interesting people whom don't always like to clean themselves. Maybe that's a auction tactic. hmmmm

The other point of interest is look at the buyer premiums. !!!! 15% !!!! with a 3% discount for cash. So let me get this straight, if I bring cash and with a almost 7% sales tax too I'm up to 20% WTF! Hopefully people will realize that and not bid junk up. But prob not.

The Grafe web site now lists the location of the MOMA auction as "233 Main Street, Osseo, MN 55369"

Note that if you put this address into Google maps, it directs you right to the middle of the big Arbor Lakes shopping complex in Maple Grove. That's because what's referred to as Osseo's "Main Street" isn't actually named Main Street, it's named Central Avenue. If they don't fix this in the auction advertising, there may not be many people there.

I'm assuming that the correct address should be "233 Central Avenue, Osseo, MN"
If so, that location presents some logistical challenges...

I have another event to attend that day, but I suppose that I'll still have to check out the auction first thing in the morning. It's only 4 miles from my house!

In your case, you "went legit", right? So, if you buy games at the auction for resale, you don't have to pay sales tax on them. (since you'll be collecting sales tax when you resell them) Should just have to fill out a Certificate of Exemption and give it to Grafe.

(To the best of my knowledge - I'm not an expert in such matters!)

I see that Grafe's web site has corrected the location to "233 Central Avenue, Osseo, MN 55369"

The Grafe and MOMA web sites disagree on the start time - 10:30 vs 10am. Doors should open around 9am for preview.

Thank you for keeping us updated. That is a big help. See you there.......
