Maybe some of you have this issue. I need to act NOW! I go down every few days to check out my games. Last night I was working on one of them with one of my KLOVer friends and he point out mold. It is in the beginning stages but by god he was right (Don't worry, cliffy is unaffected). The basement is fairly empty but damp (Especially since it rained in our area for a long time). I plan on purchasing a dehumidifier tonight! along with 2 floor fans. I need to dry out the area quickly. My basement is about 45' x 25'. I plan on putting the dehumidifier in the middle of the basement and one fan on each end of the basement blowing towards the dehumidifier. Does this sound correct to any of you who had an issue like this? Also, I need to know what I should use to wipe off the newly forming mold. Should I use a colorx solution or something else? Helpppppppppp!!!

I highly recommend this dehumidifier. I've had mine for about a year and it keeps my basement nice and dry. I have it hooked up directly via drain hose to my sump pump so I never have to empty it. Its vital to have a dry basement for your machines!!!

honestly, I don't think you really need fans as well but thats just my opinion. My basement is about 800 sq. ft.
I have mine set up in the corner of my basement and it does just fine from there. You'll be amazed at how different the basement will feel and smell after its been running for a couple of days.

Similar setup (I have to manually empty mine) and agree 100%. I'm always amazed at how much water it pulls out of the air.

Cool. Was that your review of the unit? lol

What about removing the mold? I found this link. Contains no bleach

I will try the dehumidifer without the fan for now. And order mold off unless I hear someone squawking over it.

I also found some useful info about repairing the basement wall. There is a small crack with some water getting in (not much water). I will be repairing it this wekend then use drylock to sealed the entire wall!

That should do it....Gottas save those games..

The best way to get rid of the mold is use bleach. Kill all the spores that may still be active.

I always have a dehumidifier running constantly in the summer. It is amazing how much water it pulls. My basement is bone dry.

Tilex is magic on mold and dries up quickly. I sprayed my Q-Bert 3 - 4 times and the mold just disappeared. It does have a heavy clorox ordor.

I will try tilex because working with colorox by itself worries me. I do not want to bleach my games!

let me know what you think of the dehumidifier! Mine keeps my basement at about 40% humidity. It can really suck out some serious moisture and its def a healthier environment for your games!

Well, I ordered that model yesterday. It is on it's way. I will def let you know how it works out. I also plan on repairing a minor crack in the foundation where some water had gotten through in the past. I have exposed insulation between the floor joists. Since the mold is growing on some of my games, I am assuming the mold is in the insulation as well. I think I should rip it down. Or should I just spray it with cronobium? (I picked that up yesterday at home depot). I am thinking as a precaution, I will spray all my games even the ones that do not have moss on them. Just as a precaution. Cronombium does not have bleach in it so it should be alright. I will test it on one or two games before going across the line.

I would mostly use bleach on the INSIDE of the cabs. Can't hurt colors that way. ;)

I wouldn't spray that on the games that don't have mold. The dehumidifier will take care of everything besides getting the original mold off your machines. you need to use hydraulic cement to fill your cracks and then use the drylock over that. drylock also sells a hydraulic cement that is usually near where they sell their drylock paint.

Exactly! I do not plan on spraying any cabs that do not have mold. So far only three that I can see. But I did not carefully examine them either. Anyway, I picked up cronobium, the fast plug and I am addressing everything this weekend. I am thinking about ripping out the exposed insulation as well. Mold can adhere to insulation, right?

Within 2 hours of the dehumidifier running it knocked down the humidy by 5%! WoW! I could not believe that. I plan on running it continous until Sunday eve. Then I will set the humidity level. What do you have yours set at?

Also, over the weekend, I will tackle the projects. 1 at a time revolving this issue. Starting with the patching of the crack and tending to the window wells. I plan on filling them with pea gravel only after digging down a little more to see if there is that drain pipe.

I am contemplating on ripping out the exposed insulation in the ceiling since I have no idea how long this issue went on for. I was going to rip the insulation out, put insulation on any exposed pipes...What do you think? I was also thinking about ripping the sheet rock off over the burner. But for now, I spreayed it with cronombium. you think I should tear out the insulation?
