This might be an incredibly stupid question, but...
Has any developed a truly modular arcade system where you can...
1.) Swap out the monitor with the correct size, resolution, refresh, type, orientation
2.) Swap out the control panel to suit the game
I know there are some mame rigs with many different input methods integrated. I also know people sometimes make a second control panel to swap in and out, but it seems like a system like this would be an awesome solution to going dedicated on everything.
You could either have 1 cab with both swapable and rotatable monitors, or a cab for each monitor type.
Then you could make a trackball controll panel, dual joystick panel, even panels for specific games like 720°/Paperboy/Starwars Yolk/Tempest Spinner.
Is the problem with this connecting the control panels to the PCB?
