MMAO over PM - Can we just ban this activity here please?

What really aggravates me is the people who delete prices when something sells. When that happens we loose the ability to track prices

That said - I have had things I put up on KLOV as MMAO because I didnt know the value and/or Im not sure I want to sell it. Sure makes it easy to let go of something you dont want to get rid of if the price is right.

But if you don't know "your" price, how are you going to determine the right price? That doesn't make any sense. State your price and add OBO, that way your price is established, which will determine if you sell it or not. If you want an auction, and greed drives you to get top dollar(not saying you directly), go to EBay.

I can see MMAO threads for misc parts, that don't do a seller any good, but may be of use to others. Examples: coin eject buttons, random controller parts, typically things incomplete or are not well known pieces. Things that are worth a few bucks, to help someone else out, and get the items out of the way. Those threads should not be used for Robotron joysticks, Star Wars control panels, Donkey Kong marquee, ect. Those are well known pieces, with tons of sold listings, to judge what they would be worth/sell for.

Unless they are parts/items that you can absolutely find nothing in relation to, that should be a criteria.

One possible fix for this subject. Members who create MMAO threads get charged a fee from this site, and a percent of each item sold. This would help donations towards this site. Kind of sounds like what they do on EBay, hmm..... This wouldn't stop it, but would reduce it greatly.

Just my two cents.

Yeah I disagree with you.. but thats ok.

In my exact situation it was NOS Battletoads Marquee and CPO. I didnt have a silent auction - I just wanted offers on it shipped. There was no data on value and the toads stuff along with other 90s stuff has really jumped in price. I didnt want to be greedy - but I wanted a fair price that someone wanted to pay. Lots of people were calling for it to get scanned and repro's on here so I thought it should go to a member.. not ebay.

I got an offer that I like within a day and took it. He was happy... I was happy. I think my feedback says that about my dealings and the community.

More rules... exactly what is not needed.

Echo, echo...

I said that, like 200 posts ago.

:D

...same here. It seems we're all just repeating what we've already said. Based on the response here, I can't imagine the management would want to implement this rule. Why?

(1) It requires more work. Being an all volunteer operation here the last thing they need is 'more work' or 'more responsibilities'.

(2) Easily 50% of the responses here indicate they don't agree with the proposal. It's easier to leave things the way they are... maybe piss off a few of the folks who really want the change than to implement the change and piss off a whole slew of folks are are then affected by the new rule change.

1+2 = Good luck with that...

My opinion:

MMAO threads are subject to any type of price-policing that anyone sees fit to unleash. :)

I mean clearly the seller has no idea what it's worth or what he/she thinks it's worth so feedback is warranted?

I still say MMAO reminds me of my little red book

or a cat.

There is an MMAO prefix. Use it or dont. If you think a dudes price is lame, roll your eyes and move on. I know adulting is hard but I think you can do it.

This thread is done.
