So I managed to beat MM again today on regular difficulty, got 96k points. I picked up a lot of hints from this video, but I've no idea how he's able to move so fast. I finish level 1 w/ 54 seconds like he does, but I'm almost 20 seconds slower on level 2, never end up with a surplus like he does...

I replaced the trackballs from the originals, could the Happ replacements just be pulsing slower?

It's such a clever video, most people are amazed by it. Not me, though!

Notice how the game video is DIRECT and not a video of the
machine's actual screen?

Notice how the control panel inlay shot never pans up to show
the actual screen?

Notice how the person playing never "backspins" the trackball,
a necessary maneuver to pivot around tight corners without falling off.

With MAME, you can painstakingly build what are called INP files
that "playback" a stream of input, by continuing to load/save and
make minor corrections each time to get results better than humanly possible.

There are a lot of "perfect runs" of MAME titles executed this way.
But nobody has tried to claim it as actual gameplay, as this video
attempts to and, with most people, does. It's just a lousy fake.

It could be fake, but why would anyone go to such lengths to fake it...

I've learned quite a few tricks from it, at least...

Well, I find it odd that the game footage seems to be an emulator video capture and the hand footage seems to be on a dedicated cabinet.
