Can you believe somebody (me) is about to buy a console system solely for a sports game? I think I will be pulling the trigger on a PS3 today if for anything, to be able to play The Show. The 2K series sucks, and I'm sick of hearing everyone talk about how awesome this game is. I think I'm doing it, and in turn will finally have a blu ray player, and will be able to play the other PS only titles.

Anywho, is anyone here playing The Show? Thoughts?

I gave up console gaming for now, but I bought a PS3 to play MLB '08 the Show and had a blast with it. I would've played it last year too (not upgrading to '09) but I sold it all before the console price drops.

Nope. Haven't been interested in many sports games since the 16-bit era. Though I do like the commercial for this one and it does look pretty sweet. Even the fans in the stands look decent for once - haha.

The last version of MLB: The Show I played was '08 and it was awesome (on PSP vs PS3 though).

I loved the Road to the Majors mode where you play through the minors and try to work your way to the majors. The fielding in particular was unique compared to other games... since you're only playing your position (I was a third baseman) and not the whole team.

Unfortunately the PSP version had horrible load times, so I only played through one season and didn't get promoted out of Single A (although I was leading the league in Average and a few other stats).

The Show is great. I've bought it the past 3 seasons and it's never let me down. I love that the PSN is free and rosters are updated daily to coincide with real-time trades/waivers/etc. The gameplay is pretty good IMO.

I saw a commercial recently. They are doing a $1,000,000 contest to whoever can throw a perfect game. (Edit: The contest is actually for MLB 2K10). Which seems like BS to me seeing how the programmers probably made it so it's impossible to pitch a perfect game. Or I could just be bitter that I've never been able to even with a created player with maxed out attributes.

The $1,000,000 Perfect Game offer is from 2K Sports for MLB 2K10, for the 360 and PS3 versions only, and ISN'T offered by Sony for MLB 10: The Show.

I've got absoutely no interest in sports, and therefore absolutely no interest in sports games. Back in the day, I think you could enjoy some sports games even if you weren't into sports, but that's not really true anymore.

Spent about an hour with this last night. Fun, fun game for sure. Hitting is going to take me a minute to figure out. I cant hit myself out of a wet paper bag :)

This was def a title worth getting a PS3 for me. I will be checking out some other stuff, too.

I could hit (at least make contact) on the '08 version... but couldn't draw a walk for the life of me. I think I played an entire season without getting a single base on balls.
