I aquired a pcb with ram issues from Yourmkarcadesource. He converted it from a UMK to an MK3 for me. I was going to try and repair it, however re soldering ram chips proved to be too difficult a task for me. However I did test the board and it worked pretty well despite the two red ram chips. Because the ram chips were bad, the board would not test the roms as many of you know. The game played ok however I noticed when I did Kabal's fatality, the screen blanked out.

So I ended up getting another PCB (UMK Jug Hack) which originally worked, however the previous owner installed the U64 chip in backwards and fried it. My intentions were to swap the MK3 roms from the pcb with the bad ram chips to to UMK with the bad U64.

So I start swapping chips over from the one to the other. I replaced all the chips on the board with the ones from the MK3 to the UMK board. I used Mikes video to see which chips changed or were relocated from UMK to MK3. Everything was done and replaced correctly. All chip feet found there way into the appropriate sockets. All chips were installed the correct way. No pins were bent over on the back of the board and touching. I double checked everything.

When I turn the game on, it goes through its rom test and everything passes except 17,16,15& 14. The game plays similar to how it did when it was in the board with the bad rams. Kababls fatalities are glitched out and the danger meter shows a white line across the top of the screen.

So I talked with Mike and he said it is possible that he accidentally gave me UMK chips instead of MK3. I put the MK3 chips in my Top853 programmer which just arrived yesterday. I went onto Romnation and downloaded the roms for MK3 version 2.1. I loaded the downloaded roms into the software buffer and placed the chip in the programmer, hit compare data from buffer and rom and of course they all matched up.

So according to my programmer, the roms are the correct MK3 roms. Now I am at a loss here of what to do. I was pm'd via Youtube by someone who burnt his own MK3 roms and his is doing the exact same thing as mine. Has anyone every successfully used the roms from Romnation.com to create a fully working MK3?? I am wondering if possibly the roms that were uploaded to the website are UMK roms instead or corrupt or something. Can anyone given me any suggestions on what else to try from here? At the moment I cannot erase any roms because my Uv eraser is coming from China and God knows when that will arrive.
