I had acquired a Soul Calibur 2 machine a few months back that I knew was a conversion but didn't look too much into it.

I had been looking for one of the versions of Mortal Kombat for a while but never put 2 & 2 together... You may have seen one of my old threads where I got the history of the machine from the Aladins Castle ID tag and contacted namco...

I opened it up and sure enough, original MK2 factory tags! Yes! Let the deconversion begin!

Here is the Soul Calibur 2 machine ready to be deconverted (you can see the citistrip test area on the bottom / front)

After Liftoff - Vinyl had some damages (Those are the black spots you see)...

Removed the Namco 246 system inside and mounted up the MK2 PCB / Soundboard.

Had to clean up the control panel wiring a bit as the game had been through multiple conversions.

Think I finally have all of the parts to finish the control panel tonight!

Since the pics I have removed all of the Soul Calibur 2 moves and info from the monitor bezel and added the MK2 instruction card.

Hope to have the final pics with the finished CP up tonight!

Very nice, your sideart looks like it's in great shape as well. citristrip is good stuffs.

Your monitor looks great! It need to be adjusted though. Very good job. Whole cab looks awesome :)

Yea I have to mess with the vertical adjustments to get rid of that black bar at the bottom... Glad to be just about done with this though!

Besides the citrus strip, what did you use to get the paint off? A scraper or what? I hate how they used spray paint on these cabinets. I guess it's better than trying to strip oil based.

Yes just a cheap-o plastic scraper from walmart... It had a nice edge on it that got under the hard parts pretty easily with the citistrip... Just be sure to keep the edge wiped off in between passes and it won't get all gouged and rough.
