Sometimes I get a problem in the rom check on the smaller right board. The roms u9 and u10. sometimes.. this happens once in a blue moon and when it does all the ninjas are glitched out. I have no idea which roms these are on the game board seeing as I havent seen any labeled 9 or 10, any ideas?

Sure their not on the sound board? I need to download a MK2 manual (i'm looking at the mk1 manual right now).

edit: brb downloading mk2 manual.

OK scrap the sound board your correct, the u9 and u10 are on the expansion board. I can't seem to find a manual that shows the non expansion boards >.<

First thing i would do would be reseat some chips and hit under the ones you don't pull with some canned air (just to make sure there's no dust bunnies).

just saw in another thread, one of the dipswitches changes the rom test from 1 board to the 2. I had it on the 2. it always tested those roms as green unless those 2 acted up even though there isnt the expansion board.. so I changed it to one, and no problem yet

Yeah if you had it on the two board set in the dips and only had pcb then that caused it. The one pcb version uses larger meg chips to eliminate the daughter board. It wont read the info correctly if the dip is wrong.

what's kinda funny is MAME can take it either way with the same kind of rom set. lol

first thing I'd check is for corrosion on the rom legs. bad contact will cause glitches or intermittent "bad" tests and stuff.

My whole thing was its testing green and then some times red with issues in gameplay. But I don't have those roms. So which roms cause that glitch with all the ninjas. It's cool now like I said it was once in a while. I'll check some roms out when I pull the board

it still does this after you changed the dipswitch setting? cause the POST screens are entirely different between 1 board and 2 board. I never paid attention to the rom names. I only recently memorized that UG12 and UJ12 are the program roms. (the ones that you DON'T want to be messed up with corrosion, or you get UE13 Custom Chip and sound errors like I did lol)

I'm confused, now your board is working fine? no ninja glitches? no bad mystery roms at boot up?

Yeah man I said its working fine. I said once in a blue moon i would get those errors and they come and go. I wanted to know why I got them?

chips prolly getting corroded / loose (from heating and cooling), pull em and clean them up a bit with some fine grit sand paper. Dust can cause some issues too.

bad mystery roms are from the dip switch (which can also get corroded) always good to flip them once in a while.

isn't that what I said? lol

the mere fact that the one I bought was so expensive, listed as working, and had so many god damn problems was probably all meant to be so I can tell you all about it. :p

it is :D i figured you'd know to just insert "what mecha said" lol

sounds like my umk3 that came with bad rom chips even tho the seller said it was tested and working with no issues.
