Hey guys,

This guy down the street has a MK2 Cab he wants to get rid of for $800 hah, says its a solid monitor and original cabinet. He paid $800 for it 6 years ago so wants to get what he paid for it...doesn't this sound really high? I mean i'm in NYC but what sounds like a fair price for a pretty good looking/working cabinet?

Yeah. That's too high. Try $300. And even then, only if it's pretty nice and actually an original cabinet. Lots of things got converted into MK2.

new york prices are funny 200-500 tops is the range around these parts.

Living space in NYC is smaller and therefore arcade cabs are probably less desirable.

see thats what I was thinking!..I know its really hard to get mid-west and southern state prices up in this area but come on..I'm sick of looking at guys post adds on craigslist for a broken down no named cab that was converted to a 60-1 and want $1,200+..are you kidding?? Plus, I thought I was the only one in NYC with more than 2 games. If I get this my fiance may kill me but i'm working on building a jukebox for her so we'll see haha

hah yep, that is it...I'm going to check it out tomorrow. He said he wouldnt go under $500 but the pictures to me look very weird. Probably going to end up being some old beater conversion but whatever...it will be the first time i've seen an arcade machine in someone elses apartment in the City besides me. He's looking to move it because he's moving in with his girlfriend. Maybe I can convince him to buy my Xbox 360 Custom Showcase Cabinet I have sitting in my apartment hahah

it not being an original cab...depending on what type of cab..whats a good offer for it if the monitor is good quality and game runs well?

I wouldn't pay $500 that's for sure....it's not original. Like MK said, $300 max. It's not your fault he got screwed to begin with lol

It's MK2. The whole point is the awesome original cab. If you just want the game that runs well, buy any one of the dozens of console ports and save several hundred dollars

Agreed, location is key. I probably wouldn't even respond if someone e-mailed me a $300 offer for a dedicated MK2 in good shape.

I sold one recently for $600. $300 is an insult LOL

300 is a fair starting point for haggling on a machine listed for 800. I'm not into this new wave philosophy being adopted by the community, acting like negotiation and haggling are dead concepts. That someone trying to get the ball rolling for a back and forth sales discussion are to be treated like they just shit in your bed because they didn't offer you top dollar ASAP.

On topic: most definitely not a MK2. Most definitely not a 800 dollar machine either.

How is $300 a fair starting point? It's not even half the asking price. I hate people that low ball.

From the sound of it, you're one of those guys that think any arcade game made in the 90's or 2000's is worthless.

this ad is obviously a bad example because it is not an original dedicated cab. And really is only worth about $300

LOL what? From the sound of what? What sound did I make that would draw you to that conclusion?

It's a fair starting point in that you can then say, "799". You're both establishing a starting point. I could sympathize with your perspective if the concept was difficult to grasp, what I don't so much get is going into a raging dry hump because someone is starting a haggle.

I'll stoop to your level and be judgmental about one thing: I bet your tune changes when you're on the buying end of this situation.

lets break this down:
Mc-Hammer70808.jpg

Board and sound board w/ harnesses: $80-130
Marquee: $10-15 (that ones been cut down and of little to no value)
Monitor: $75-150
Cabinet: $50-100
Misc stuff: $50-100

total: $265-495

These are just general figures as to their value if you resold them (and are my idea of their value not everyone will feel the same).

I'd offer $150 honestly....
