After owning this cabinet since 2005 I've done various things to it. It's not the usual MK2 wide cabinet - I'm not sure what type it is, but it doesn't have the black edges with the red Midway lettering and the 'whole' CP doesn't lift off the cabinet. Anyway, I decided to go with the fantasy side art on this one and illuminated buttons. I bought the side art 3 years ago and didn't fit it basically because I knew I would move house at some point. After moving in: T-molding replaced as well as the CPO, plexiglass and various touch up jobs to the metal and wood work. So here it is! It's running MK1 Nifty Kombo on a kombo board (not MAME), recently discovered.

it looks like an mk1 cabinet, but the sides are missing from the box??

also what is the nifty kombo board?? I have the turbo 3.1 roms on my mk1 board, but curious as to the nifty

Looks great! It looks like the Fantasy version of art is based off of the original kit side art. Somewhere I still have 2 pieces of NOS MK2 kit art that I framed because I just love the look of that art!

It's not a mk1 , the sides of the control does throw it off and the coin doors look wrong and also mk1's have a slide out Pane on the front of the cab and is more rounded(squared rounded on the front). I'm not sure what kind of cab it is, have seen beach head games in that cab though

definitely an odd cab, looks like it was 1 player so kjeffery might have the big "W" on this one.

as for Nifty Kombat

thanks to zenomorp

It's definately a dedicated MK2 cabinet, but I'm from the UK so it won't be like the U.S. cabinets. I got all the original documentation with it (serial number and ID tag on the back and ID tags inside the cabinet), it's wired correctly and originally (kick harness, service buttons, volume buttons, everything) and I took the original side art off it which, as usual, had been hacked to pieces by the local youths. The side art was the original full size raiden with the all black back ground, one side OKish the other side shot to bits.

It might be a late MK1 cabinet which didn't make it to MK1 at the manufacturers, but was converted to be an MK2 when the game first released. That's my theory any way. I have seen other MK2 cabinets like this - one in an arcade and one on Ebay but they rarely appear anywhere.

It's running the Nifty Kombo on one of these beauties. You would have needed one to play 3.1 turbo before it was hacked and I still want to know what the 3rd board (dead board) is though.

1 coin mech/acceptor tho?!?

very interesting, also what's the big difference between the original and the fantasy art?

The original side art was as what was on every other MK2 cabinet, but it had been badly attacked. So much so, it had to come off and be replaced. Since I couldn't put 'original' art back on (it would be copied side art) I decided to go for the fantasy art in the link below. They do produce a copy of the original side art, but I quite like the fantasy art.

ah i see the differences now, more vibrant colors and the clouds are more defined in the fantasy art.

I've seen those images 100x guess i just needed to look at them side by side.

That single coin mech kills me. wonder why the difference in the CP? easier to ship maybe?

You'd think they'd outsource the manufacturing out in Europe just because shipping 400lbs plus is a lot of cash!
