Just bought MK2 from ebay, comes with the board and sound board. I was just wondering if I can just pull my MK1 board/sound board and direct swap for the MK2 to work in this cabinet. Also, are all the fighting games, Street fighter, Killer instinct, pretty much the same JAMMA set up, and all work just by swapping boards? What do i need to look for, make sure the 12v and 5v are in the same spot on the board?

Thanks in advance!

yes everything should be fine to interchange as long as you have a sound pot hooked up to the sound board and that wiring. as for KI and MK3+ and street fighter you will need to have kick harnesses and i use molex connectors on my control panels to easily swap if needed.

i also highly recommend a 120mm or larger PC fan to blow on your KI CPU Heatsink (wouldn't want that to overheat).

the sound board wiring is different so you'll need that for T-unit boards (and even another one for NBA Jam as it's different from MK2).

I don't have there other boards yet, Keeping my eye out. Bought MK2 for 36.00 off fleeBay and wanted to test it out when I got it. I even made sure it was the long single board vs the double board for MK2 so if i run a switcher it will fit easier.

Also keep in mind that only the T unit version of MK1 has the same kick harness wiring as MK2. The earlier Y Unit version of MK1 has a different kick harness pinout so you may have to do a bit of work on it.

Awesome, good point. My MK1 is a T unit, so I guess I lucked out there.

just to throw this out there, probably doesn't apply since they more than likely have separate harnesses, but if in the event you had to borrow an MK1 one for MK2... I've used a Y-unit harness on a T-unit sound board before and it worked. it's missing 1 pin, for an extra ground wire. you just have to make note of which end to plug the connector into, you can do it by comparing pinouts in the manual.

though I don't recommend this if you're not very handy with that stuff. lol

i noticed you mentioned that before on a separate thread, and there was mention that t and y unit soundboards were also interchangeable right?

yeah, I've gotten it to work. if you look in the MK T-unit kit manual it will state that there's 2 sound board revisions. I'm guessing one is the Y-unit type and the other is the NBA Jam type.

I compared the pinouts between them and found the only difference was that the T-unit sound board had an extra ground pin, which obviously doesn't affect its operation if you use a Y-unit board with a Y-unit harness, you just have to know which end to plug it in at. I think they both start at pin 1... that would be logical lol
