Hi,
Can someone tell me if all of/some of the MK PCBs that have a seperate sound board use the same ribbon & power cables? (IE: could I use my UMK3 ribbon & power cable for an MK2 PCB set)
Thank you

MK1 and MK2 were the ONLY ones that had a separate sound board. MK3, UMK3, MK4 are one, complete PCB with onboard sound.

MK1 (T-Unit) and MK2 DO in fact use the same ribbon and power cables.

MK1 (Y-Unit) does NOT use the same power cables as MK2. The ribbon cable is the same.

Basically, the ribbon cable is the only item that can be used for any version of MK1 or MK2. The sound power cables are only interchangeable between the T-Unit version of MK1 and any version of MK2. If you have the Y-Unit of MK1, the cables are only good for that one.

Make sense?

Crystal clear,
Thank you zenomorp!

just wanted to throw this out here... from my personal experience:
if you have a Y-unit sound board harness, you can still use that with a T-unit boardset. the difference between the two harnesses is an extra ground wire.

you'll have to do some homework just to be sure, but I think if you match up pin 1 on each side (the boards are labeled at the header) it will work, and you'll just have an empty pin on the header. if you do this wrong, you'll blow shit up however. :) cause that harness carries power for the sound board!

I strongly encourage that if you're ever in that position to just learn how to crimp your own connectors and modify accordingly.

this is correct but backwards (you can use the t unit harness on the y unit board you'll just have the extra ground wire on 2 connectors), i've heard the same thing told by zenomorp.

bob roberts also sells these for around 8-12$ each.

Thank you for all the info everybody.
I have a UMK3 and havent been playing it lately; I was thinking of swapping it w/ an MK2 PCB, but cant seem to find anyone selling it w/ the cables, so I just wanted to get some details.

I havent opened the box since I put in the Juggernaut hack chips (which was a while ago), so I forgot that UMK3 doesnt have a seperate soundboard.

Thanks again everyone!
