so I've got a moonwalker board that boots without sound...and when the game starts as soon as 1) a move button is pressed or 2) Jackson gets hit, the player freezes completely (with some enemy sprites working).

did a memory test and ic 42 is labelled bad. Replaced it (BR6116-100 ram chip) with no difference.

been eyeballing for broken traces for an hour....
any ideas? i wish I knew how it tested the memory exactly/which connections to check. working on a suicide board is so stressful too :/

The audio is probably bad because of some special programmed stuff related to the suicide, no? the amp and vol knob are good-- I can hear buzzing when I touch the vol knob (from picking up my hand). It's just mute, like a suicide sound chip :p

Don´t seem like suicide problem, I only saw them completely dead when suicide batt kills HITACHI, have you tried erasing bookeeping? try a full erase, sometimes that would solve strange behaviours. Regarding sound, in my opinion, i don´t think it would be related to suicide, should check sound cpu work ram and yamahas, also check if that pcb needed -5 volt for sound, that might be the problem...

I'd just like to say...

"Doooggga doooggga doooga doooga doooga doooga doooga DA!
Dooga doooga doooga doooga doooga doooga...

Doooogga doooga doooga doooga doooga doooga doooga da!
Doooga doooga doooga dooga dooga doooga...."

I noticed you're from Argentina, so I thought in case there's a language barrier, I wasn't making fun of you or anything, You guys were talking about the sound in "Moonwalker" so it just made me think of the song "Bad". The beat goes "dooga dooga dooga dooga da!" good stuff!
