First since Killer Instinct doesn't count...

I picked this up on Saturday. I was pretty surprised how light it is. The marquee light doesn't work right now and when we were loading it the base on the bottom broke (it was a bit rotted and the op half-assed repairing it). For now I just removed the rest of the base and the wheels. I'll replace them soon. Bottom of the cab is fine. Player 1 and 2 were wired backwards. Monitor looks good but there is some static on the sound. I guess the sound portion of the monitor needs to be re-capped?

Just need a Red Tent, PC10, or Punch-out now!

Congrats! :)

The marquee looks to be in pretty good shape too. Most Vs. SMB marquees are yellowed and faded from age. Your browns and blues look pretty rich. I'm sure it will look nice once you get the light going again.

Virtual punch to the groin for you that awesome cab, CONGRATS!! If you don't mind me asking what kind of a deal did you get on that?

I paid $330.01 Not sure if I overpaid or not. It was listed on craigslist first. He wanted $450. I emailed and said "Can't really afford it but good luck, etc." just to get in his head a bit (usual CL etiquette for me in case they go lower later...) He comes back with $400. I don't bite. After a week or so he listed it on ebay. It ended at $330.01. I outbid someone by a penny. The guy I got it from builds MAME cabs but wouldn't dismantle this cab. He tried to sell me an Arkanoid also... No thanks.

If I overpaid I don't really care, though. I wanted it.

The "Ninty" thing is clearly getting out of hand. Let's rein it in people.

Oh yeah, congratulations on your pickup!

Surprisingly, I've actually never used that term ever since I joined KLOV as a self-proclaimed Nintendo fan boy. I just never quite understood why some guys use it. I like saying "Nintendo" because that's the name of the company. It would be like saying "Capcomy" or "Williamsy" or "Atari-y." Weird. I wouldn't feel right using the term anyways as I think Blkdog has it trademarked. :)

do you mind if i use "Williamsy"?:)

Every time I see a SMB with sideart, I really wish that there was some non-generic option out there. I have a friend that has one that needs sideart and I really don't care for the generic sideart. SMB is a great game and worthy of its own dedicated cabinet! Nice pickup!

Not at all, sir. In fact, I'm going to start using Capcomy and see if I can get it trademarked. :D

To get back on topic, I agree with Jeff, it would be cool if someone made custom side art for SMB. I know Phet has made the custom bezel with the same feel as the marquee which is kind of cool.

I would draw/design and get it printed (digital) for this game in a hearbeat if there was enough interest.

About 3/4 down the page. I think it has promise. Needs a little rounding out on the edges though.

fair price - it's fine.

Congrats on the machine... since you can burn stuff building out a bunch of VS sets will be awesome for you.

Nice looking game, and it's got the cool vs. art (there's a couple different types).

On the wiring thing, it's not really wired backwards. For whatever reason, they made it like that, with player1 on the right and player 2 on the left. I've seen a few other games like that too. If you play a 1 player game, BTW, BOTH sets of controls work on SMB.
