I picked up a original Ms. Pac Man Cocktail, which has been retrofitted with a switching power supply, a newer monitor, and harness. It was a mess when I opened it up, everything was taken apart.

So this leads me to my question:

The board was just lying in the machine, and it looks as though it is missing the daughter board. There was one lone 3" x 4" board that say "pac repair kit".

So the question is, what am I missing and what is the pac repair board?

I was just looking at the two bits diagnostics board. There is a service tag on the board that says "Ms. Pac Did not test traces on edge conn." I am a newb to all this, so i am not sure what that means.

The board also appears to have a edge connector repair kit as well.

It appears that the normal daughter boards have been replaced with custom chips, and a the Pac Repair kit instead of the normal Ms Pac daughterboard. You should only need to plug that Pac Repair board into the empty chip socket next to the red "PASS PASS" sticker. Make sure you put it in with the polarity aligned properly (should be the same as all the other chips on the board)...

I was eyeing up plugging it back in, but the pac repair board had some bent pins, and one is fractured and about to fall off, so I need to fix it or get a daughter board.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Snap a picture of the underside of the "repair" board. If the header pins are intact you can just plug in a new socket and your good to go. If the header pins are bent/broke I can solder some new ones in. Or...I can sell you a mspac aux board with new ribbon cable if you want to go original.
Damn that edge connector "repair" looks like crap. I really dont understand why people dont fix these the right way.

It would have to be 10 times better than that to even come up, to looking like crap in my book.;)

It does qualify for "looks like ASS!"

Hey now, I didn't do it, but you are talking about my new project. It has potential. :)

While I agree it's not pretty, I must admit I've done similar work myself. I'd love to do a less assy job, but am not sure how else to deal with a burnt up edge connector. What is the best or at least, less assy way?
