I think my Nintendo Cabinet may be missing some ground wires...

Is there anywhere you can get these and also where exactly do they need to go?

Is it dangerous not to have them. Could it make a monitor not work?

Thanks!

The ground wire go to everything in the cab and then down to the bottom where the cord goes out the back of the machine. On Nintendo cabs it will be a screw that says ground. You'll need the wire attached to the control panel, monitor, power supply, coin mechs, speaker, etc. All you gotta do is take off a nut, put the loop on, and nut it back up. I don't know how it will affect the monitor but it is definitely safer to have your machine grounded. The ground wire is all one wire. Should be green in color and have lots of loop connectors for installation.

You can easily make them with some green wire and loop connectors, or I may have one lying around in my closet. I can check if you like.

Hey, if you have an extra one, that would be fantastic! Let me know.

Does it matter exactly where the ground wire for the monitor goes or would any nut/screw on the back of the monitor metal bars/frame be fine?

I really appreciate the help!

On mine it is the last carrage bolt that holds the monitor mounts. It doesn't matter which side.

I found my extra sets on ground wires. PM me if you want them. $5 + actual cost of shipping.

interesting subject. lol

my DK started tweaking out. I rubbed my shoes on the floor and touched the coin door and sure enough, I got the game to reset with static electricity.

odd part is all the grounds are hooked up, and I metered the ground pin against the wires in the cab and continuity checked out.

any ideas?

My DK does this in the winter when it's dry and the furnace is on. I posted about it before, and even made a video showing it. I was told it is normal, and can't be fixed. You can try to remedy it by spraying liquid fabric softener with water in front of the game to cut down the static.

that's what I was afraid of. lol

game started tweaking out bad on top of all that, not sure if the static caused it or not. there were graphic glitches and the screen flipped upside down like cocktail mode. I opened it up and didn't really do anything but slide the board out enough to test voltage at ICs, and I'm getting 5.11V with the standard Nintendo PSU.

then as long as I played the game, it seemed fine. weird.

I operate mine commercially, it's not in my house at all, it's at my family's game room. people love the shit out of that game. :)

Continuity doesn't necessarily mean it's got a good connection. I'd run an additional ground line from the coin door straight to the ground line where it enters the cabinet.

For that matter, are you sure your outlet has a good ground?
