So I have 2 Joust games, which I am parting out, so I can create the perfect joust.

One of them has a full board set, the other has the sound board only.
I recently purchased a Joust PCB board set on ebay, so all I am lacking is the power supply board and (here is where I show I am a newbie) its also missing the ?black heat sink? Other then that I should be good. Unless of course the boards don't work.

I haven't decided what I am going to do with the machine yet, I am deciding between jrok multi williams and a joust. Which ever I can sell for the most money so I can buy a Stargate.

So I was wondering what my options are:
Do I need to track down a joust power supply board and ?heat sink??
Or is there another way to replace or bypass the board and heat sink?

As always thanks for your help.

Two options.....track down the missing parts, as you mentioned....shouldn't be too difficult...lots of those around. Or....install a switcher.

Among other people here, I sell rebuilt Williams power supply boards. They are $30 + shipping. I have a couple spare heat sinks at the moment. They are becoming harder to find. Those are $20 plus shipping. I do combine shipping as much as possible.

I just tore down a game that had a Williams PS, PS board and a sound board inside. Pretty sure it was from a Joust too. I'm in Allen, let me know if you or anyone else is interested.

Run the original power supply parts in Williams games from that era. Usually switchers are okay options, but Williams design for memory protection relied in part on the bleed down of the large caps in the power supply during power off.

Sometimes on some Williams games, you can have issues running a switcher.
