Missile command tripping circuit breaker after move

Circuit can handle it. My other games can power on fine. Any idea?

Check the power cord and both ends and make certain there is nothing in the bottom of the cab. Inspect for damage insulation and look at wiring and fuses. Sometimes when moving a loose screw/washer, coin, etc. will roll around during move. Look at fuses and check for foreign materials. Also look around transformers for anything that should not be there.

Back in the day when we put a computer together, we would pick up cpu and shake it around and listen for anything rattling in the case. Usually one of the screws that hold isa cards would be in there or a loose jumper.

Has a new plug been put on the end of the powercord? Some breakers will trip if you screw up the black/white/green wires.

I might have the damn toggle switch on the mc wired wrong. Im sure i put it back correctly tho. Would that trip it?

Ok. I was posting with my iphone before. I can talk a bit easier now.

Ok My MC has a issue where the lower back wooden board on the cab that holds the power toggle switch pops off. I need to take the time to reattach it properly.

Anyways. I know when I transported the game that wooden board moved and pulled the spade connectors off the back of the power toggle switch. I reattached those I believe in the correct manner. If someone has a pic of how they should be attached that would be awesome. But I seem to have them attached the same as my other Atari's.

I should mention My MC is powered by its original Power supply. No hacks or anything.

Ok now the Circuit I use to power my games (one at a time) In My climate controlled storage unit is protected by a GFI outlet. Now The games that I have run with no issues are My Ms. pac, Tempest and Space Duel.

So far I have Searched for anything that might be causing a short. I can't find anything. I pulled up the power supply and checked there too. I checked how the replacement 3-prong plug is wired and that seems fine.

whats going on lol

This is where I would look again.

Post a pic.

EDIT:

Unplug power cord and meter the plug (coming from game) for ohms, the two blade terminals (meter lead on each) and smaller blade to ground. I bet it is going to be low or shorted.

NOTE:

Wiring diagrams show a seconded interlock located inside coin door on lower left. Check that area for pinched/loose wires.

First lets see if plug is wired correctly.
Put your meter on ohms or beep test and put one lead on one of the white wires and the other on the larger blade on plug. Should get beep or low ohms and check the other pins of the plug, smaller blade this would indicate a short. Do the same for the black wire one side or the other will be going to plug. Black wire to smaller blade, should beep or be low ohms. Check black wire to larger blade for short and ground, should not beep or be low ohms.

I'm Home now. So I'll futz with it tom after work and check those things

You can see it power on for a half second before it trips it. I wanna play! lol

Ok played with it a bit today. I'm pretty convinced there is nothing wrong.

Is the transformer bigger or to say draw more power then the other games That I have powered up? (AD,Tempest, mspac) Maybe those just narrowly don't trip the gfi that I assume was meant for lower power use.

Good news is I did fix that bottom rear panel. Its never coming off again lol

So my MC blowing the gfi outlet was the black and green swapped on the replacement plug. I thought I checked like you suggested but I didn't. Just remembered and checked today. So thank you! :)

Been that way forever. Guess that gfi is sensitive while a reg circut breaker isnt. Bad news is it seems while trying to figure out wth the problem was I fubared the monitor. Gotta go back with my test equipment. No neck glow but seems to be getting a.c.

The plug, with that wiring, would have put the HOT 110vac to the ground of the cab and ground to the HOT in the cab. Could have done some damage before the breaker tripped.

So check the Hot.

The cab worked great at 2 diff apartments wired that way tho. It did cross my mind though that all the power cycles while trying to fix it maybe stressed something. I didnt even have a multi meter with me today. So I'l check some stuff tom. Game is playing blind no prob.

Check ALL wiring and ON/OFF switch wiring. There is usually a separate plug/connection for the monitor. I would first verify the 110v input to the cab and the switches then look at and test the fuse holders/fuses and transformers. If game is playing blind then the board and program is good and the problem is the power to the monitor or the monitor board.

I can't tell you how many games I've fixed, over the years, by rewiring a mis-wired plug.......and it's always the same story.....We just moved it to this room, it worked fine in the other room.....or we just moved to this new house, it worked fine in the old house.

I guess the real scary thing is........how come it actually worked?
