I was looking for the kit to re-build an Atari MC trackball. Bob Roberts site says sold out..so who else has a kit?

How do I know for sure if I need a new trackball?

I wouldn't worry about the ball itself unless it's really beat up, nicked and gouged...new bearings and rollers for sure. And some might suggest just cleaning and re-lube the old bearings since they're already broken in. I would do new bearings too, though...

if the rollers look like this (grooving wear), you need new roller shafts at least...

yup.. mine looks like that. The ball seems ok though.

Payment sent! Any advice on doing a rebuild? It looks pretty straight forward.

Disassemble the unit.
Remove worn parts.
Clean
Install new parts
Re-assemble and install in game.

Pull everything apart and clean in hot soapy water, including the ball. When installing the bearings put a drop of 3-1 or comparable light oil on each bearing. Be careful not to get oil on the shafts or it will get all over the ball.
Be careful with the top plexi, they are usually cracked and are fragile from age. You can make these from plexi but its alot of work.

Also, loose fit everything - Start on the bottom, and don't tighten down the fasteners until everything is installed. Make sure you don't put torque loads on the shafts as you tighten the fasteners down.
