Missile Command TG Marathon WR Going On Right Now: Carlton At It Again

I think Bill will be back and do this again with improved results. We are getting to see one of us going for the goal. To be continued...

The problem is that you need a team of people to pull it off.

Which is why I personally believe most if not all the scores from the 80's are BS. With the reset issue and all what are the odds someone really put up those scores BITD. Unless there was a different version of the boards that didn't have the reset. It's pretty clear watching him play that he can break the world record. He just needs a team that is very organized and ready for anything.

Yeah I agree it seems like it wouldn't have been possible after what I saw had to be put into it today.

Anyway, in summary, I was pissed! My boy let me down! SOMEONE ALWAYS HAS TO BE LOOKING AT THE DAMN GAME!! I don't care how sure they are of the city count. It's one thing to have a rough count to use... I was thinking of this very scenario unfolding... And it did.

I started to write a response like this a couple times but I didn't feel it was my place to point that out... glad you said it! :)

Great attempt!!! Weak ending!!! :(

No doubt he's got the skills... now he just needs to string 50 or 60 hours together!!! :001_ssuprised:

Bri,

You are not too old!!! :p Get practicing!!! Afterall, if you are too old, that would make me too old, and I know that is not true... but I totally lack the skills required to play that game (for more than 2 minutes anyway...)

I would trust you to have a good team to keep you awake and motivated... and to watch the game as well ;) Not to mention all of KLOV would be cheering you on!!

That being said, I'm still one of his biggest supporters. We'll get em next time, tiger!;)

I'll be watching next time. I hate to admit it, but I had it going on two computer screens down in the basement arcade while I was working on the games(and playing MC). I probably watched a good 5 or 6 hours of it. :001_ssuprised: Hell... my son watched for at least and hour or so straight at the beginning and then he'd keep stopping by to see how it was going.

It has to be a humbling experience. And next time I hope *NOTHING* is taken for granted for even 1 minute. :)

I walked away at 53.8 mil and then came back a short while later to find it over. Bummer. But it was good to see that he was in a good mood about it. He says he wants to try again in April. I hope he does. Congrats Bill!

what a waste of time

So is every moment of time you spend on arcade games. Point being?

As it was upsetting to see it end the way it did I can't wait to see him try again. Next time should be better as soon as they work out the bugs in their system the sky is the limit. would be neat if they could have some sort of digital readout of the score and the city amounts on the game so bill can see it and everyone else. That and I would like to see the camera positioned a little better so the score doesn't get partially cut off.

I expected someone to start screaming once only three cities came up on the next level...

Hey guys, just thought I would chime in here with a little something.

For anyone who came by and hung out in the chatroom while watching the stream, you know it was a fun couple of days for all involved! Really, this was the closest thing to the exitment of the original arcade days I have expierienced since I have joined the hobby. Thanks to internet technology "dorks" from all over the world can participate in this unique occasion. For those that missed it, give it a try next time. There were quite a few world champion players checking in on Bill during the attempt.

Bill called me up not too long after the initals were entered. He was really, really happy about the whole experience. It was nothing but a positive attempt. He moved up in the rankings, and of course is also the only modern era score in the top 10. He wanted to thank everyone who was there in the chatroom egging him on, and was already talking about the "next time"

I was pretty surprised when he called to thank me, and one of the first things I had to say was, "don't you want to go to sleep"? Anyway, Bill is a unique guy and I am sure he will beat the record in our lifetime. I have met few people as dedicated to anything. Sounds like the crew have overcome one more hurdle, and now they are that much closer to the finish. As Shanman said, looks like April will be the next attempt and we can do it all over again.

Nice chatting with you all, I dont want to try to list all the KLOVers that were in there, but it seemed as if there were at least 5-10 at all times.

I'll be tuning in next time! As will be a few of my friends. This may have inspired me to do some of my own web record attempts.
