I have a missile command upright that I am thinking of selling. The side art has some damage(see pictures) Can I mask off the good parts and spray paint the other area white? If so does anyone have a recommendation for what kind of paint to use? Is this a waste of time?

Thanks

Yes, you can, but you will see the height difference in the vinyl that is there vs. the vinyl that is gone. prOk here has suggested using Evercoat, which is a bondo-like filler, but the consistency before curing is much smoother and easier to deal with to make very shallow repairs like this. See this link where I asked the same question (I'm embarrassed to say I've just gotten to this part on my restore) :

and this one, which is from his old website (no pictures, but a good description of the process)

Good luck!

I question whether it's a waste of time if you're selling it. Let's say you fix it and get a few more dollars, but you sink some time into it to make the repair hard to see, and it's still going to be paint vs vinyl. I say sell it based on working status and other things and let the buyer worry about it. The only total fix would be new sideart, but that's only an investment for someone wanting to keep it.
