Hey all, I've been trying to get a Missile Command board to work, and have been doing a bit of research on the web - I didn't realize how much of a pain in the butt this one can be ... anyway, I'm not getting anything when I boot up, just the yellow screen and no sound (w/volume at full blast)

-The red Led on the board is on
-I adjusted the voltage to almost exactly 5v
-I replaced the POKEY and processor, same thing

I'm not really sure where to start on this, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Take each ROM one at a time and remove and reseat it firmly back in its socket. Be sure to note the correct orientation of the chip so as not to put it in backwards. Also go over the edge connector with an eraser and clean it. Visually inspect for things like broken traces or bad solder joints.

Thanks for the that

I gave it a shot and still no luck :( Is there anywhere that I can get a new set of roms for it? No obvious breaks or bad solder joints

I'm sure someone on KLOV can burn a set for you. I just don't recall who still offers that anymore. Your problem may also be with one or more ram chips. Also..when you set you're +5v it can be a tad higher like 5.1 or 5.2 and not harm the board. Are you setting the voltage with the game board plugged into the harness?

Great call! I'm going to order it tomorrow!

Have you tried to get into test mode? If you power up with the test switch flipped, you may get beep codes that will tell you if RAM is bad, and which one.

If the tset switch isn't doing anything, do take a meter and verify the switch itself isn't bad - I wasted an hour or two last time mine went out because the stupid test switch had become intermittent.

Also, you might want to know that one of the test points on the main board is the test switch input. You can just jump that to ground with a clip lead, if you like.

No go w/the Test switch, I tried jumping it from the board as well and no sounds. I do hear humming coming from the speakers but nothing more.

New update, and new problems ... I got the multi chip and installed it. Now in normal mode it a faint image shows up on the screen, but nothing happens when trying to coin up, etc. When I switch it to test mode, an atari noise sounding crackling (don't know how to describe it any better) happens. Any ideas or leads? I've thoroughly looked through the board to see if there are any obvious problems w/the board etc, but no luck.

BTW, I do think my reset button is toast - would that do it? Can I just remove it, or bypass it, or do I just need to replace. A bit more info - when it's on regular game mode another screen that looks like gibberish keeps blinking on and off.
