Over the weekend I was at a local paintball establishment and witnessed an event I haven't seen in many years. In the lobby was a working Ms. Pac-Man upright which I noticed when entering and immediately reviewed for working condition, artwork, etc. Within a few minutes a group of five teenage boys went over to look at the game. I expected them to take a quick look and then walk away. However, one of them dropped in a quarter and started playing while the other four watched and rooted him on. That was the surprise because I haven't seen that happen to a classic game since back in the day (BITD). The only think that would have made it better is if they had started lining-up quarters along the marquee.
I pulled out my phone to get a picture, but was too late since the game ended and the boys got called away for their paintball tutorial.
It was something small, but something I think most classic game collectors would have appreciated.
For those folks wondering, the game worked, but had a little bit of vertical deflection collapse that didn't affect gameplay. The side and front artwork was complete, but faded. The CPO was intact, but the black paint could us a little touch-up while the bezel was good except for a little flaking along one blue only corner. I didn't see any signs of "paintball" paint on it.
