Misbehaving display on Gottlieb Striker (it's a system 80a machine)

I've got a mis-behaving display on my Striker. Attached is a photo. When it occurs (it will come and go randomly), I find that both the +5 and the +60 are being pulled down due to the extra draw (+5 seems to drop to 4.15 or so). When the problem is not happening, then +5 and +60 look normal.

This only happens with one of the displays, and it follows the display (I switched it to player 4 for a while and it still occurred).

Anyone got a good idea what I'm dealing with here? There's only 3 chips on the board (two of the display drivers and one OR gate package).

Has anyone seen this before? I'm thinking that it's likely the first display driver chip (Z1, labeled 'segments driver'). Any good ideas on what to do about it? Should I try to find the chips and just swap them out (and hey, while I'm there, I'll reflow everything and swap the caps as well).

My +5 looks good, but +60 and friends all seem to be on the low side (57 volts for +60).

Thanks!

i'd start by inspecting the solder pads where the connector connects to on the display board

all nice and clean ?
burnt/wonky ?

could be it needs a little attention with a soldering iron or an eraser to clean up the pads

might even replace the capacitor while its on my workstation and look for cold solder joints too

Good point. I suppose I'll start there and see how it goes. Thanks!
