Freakin' awesome!

This is exactly what I was inquiring about a few months ago; I was wondering if anyone had made one. Got a link to this guy's site? I'd like to see more pictures & details...

I'm sure FF has an add-on for one... but trying to read "translated" webpages are a task in of itself. The pictures speak for themselves though.

That's awesome.

If anyone ever makes one of these for sale, a PM will be sent...

And unfortunately Hyper Pin won't run on a netbook. I've already looked into that idea. Both it and Future Pinball seem to have fairly high system requirements in order to run so you might need a fairly high end (ergo expensive) gaming laptop to make them work.

I'm waiting for such things to come down in price before I consider trying to make one of these myself.

hah. fat chance, I been begging people to make me a little arc cabinet where I could supply the game and cash and no one will

You could always try Ben Heck. I emailed him and asked him to do a hardware mod for me and he did it for a very reasonable price.
The only snag with Ben is he tends to be an artist type so doing a project as a one-off is what he enjoys. But if people line up for multiple orders, he tends not to be interested.

An iPad would be a good hardware platform. The high resolution screen and touch controls work well. I have an HD pinball set downloaded on mine and it plays rather well. You just touch the side of the screen to activate the flippers...

Is it true that there are some newer games (i.e. Family Guy) that probably won't be emulated by existing emulators `cause there's a new software engine or some such thing running in the machines themselves?

Yes the creators of PinMAME have agreed not to release the version that emulates Stern's current SAM system (yes it is already emulated, but unreleased).

Maybe in a few years when Stern moves to another system (LOL) they MIGHT release it.

Until then, no emulated late model Sterns.

That said, a couple of guys have been working on scripted versions which are really quite nice. There's a great version of Spiderman kicking around that doesn't run ROMs and is written entirely in script.
